Senior Systems Engineer, Database Administration (DBA) is a key member of a high performance Kontoor Global Infrastructure Services – Automation, Monitoring and Data Services team embarking on our next transformational journey to modernize IT database administration and services to enable and empower Kontoor’s business capabilities with enterprise IT automation, infrastructure as code and Database-as-a-Services (DBaaS) platforms and transforming current solutions to cloud native solutions. This role is a technical hand-on position primarily responsible for designing, managing and securing Kontoor’s database systems and services by supporting existing and future controls and processes and through leading efforts to continually automate, improve stability, efficiency, and security across multiple dimensions and domain and enterprise systems, including enterprise infrastructure as code automation using automation tools including Azure\SQL Cloud database services technologies, Microsoft Power BI and Power Platforms, and Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.

With your broad understanding and technical expertise in database services, reporting, analytic, and strong understanding of global IT operations, you will drive, interact, and collaborate closely with various technical infrastructure service teams, network services, IDAM, application development/integration, application support workstreams, and information security to identify opportunities for automation and develop automated solution to improve operational efficiency, reduces manual efforts, and enhancing systems reliability and consistency to support and evolve Kontoor’s Global IT Automation, Monitoring, and Database-as-a-Services (DBaaS) journey and initiatives.

You are expected to provide thought leadership and strategies to evolve Global IT Automation, Monitoring, Power BI, Power Platforms, and Data Services offering, pro-actively contributing to infrastructure, database and application availability, optimization, and resiliency by contributing directly to design and operational processes. You will be empowered to proactively drive automations, best practices and changes at the application, project, program and organizational level. Since this role is part of Kontoor’s Global Information Technology (IT) Infrastructure Services and Operations team, you will support operational database management processes and you will be required to participate in some on-call, major incident services restoration activities and frequent interaction with vendors and third-party external hosted system and cloud service providers and database vendors.

Responsibilities:

Engineering, Operations, and Code Development: Collaborate with cross-functional team to proactively identify opportunity for optimization, automation, develop, implement, and maintain automated IT system for Database, Analytic, and Reporting Services delivery and operations. Serve as a key escalation point with the Data Services administration team, providing guidance for effective resolution.

Lead and support maintenance and troubleshooting activities for the Data, Analytic and Reporting functional domain that include identifying and resolving issues across Kontoor database related controls, systems, and applications

Directly triage and respond to data, analytic, and reporting alerts, database capacity and performance reports, and service requests on a regular basis

Lead and support database vulnerability management processes, such as database patching, database security scanning vulnerability assessment, prevention and remediation efforts

Develop automation code and run data services automation code test execution inclusive of infrastructure, security, network, systems, application, hardware, and software to identify bugs and quality issues in code development, services, and processes.

Ensure that data services and automation solutions adhere to security standards, risk, and compliance requirements, implement access controls, and monitor for code bugs, vulnerabilities, and/or risks adhering to versioning, refactoring and documentation standards.

Comply with Kontoor change management control, incident response, testing and validate infrastructure changes or problems across the hybrid-cloud infrastructure and distributed environment.

Create, Maintain and update SOPs for data, analytic, reporting services functional area disaster recovery. Perform periodic review and testing for database recovery processes

Participate in rotational On-call support

Architecture Standards and Strategy: Serving as the subject matter expert/lead technical resource for Kontoor Enterprise Data Services to achieve a state-of-the-art database environment with major focus on establishing database-as-a-service (DBaaS) using Kontoor enterprise IT automation platform tools that meets current / future business objectives by working within architectural standards, software development, security, network, and other infrastructure operations teams.

Providing though leadership, strategies, and design to evolve Global IT Data Services architecture, design and delivery to ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, organizational policies, and best practices, including cloud standards and best practices

Research, Design, implement, and automate On-Premises and Cloud databases systems (physical, virtual and logical) to ensure failover and monitor capabilities are in place for high availability including meeting application\system disaster recovery SLA and SLO of database resources

Develops and enforces standards and guidelines to optimize the management, documentation, access, usage, migration, consolidation and safeguarding of Company data

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, application analysts, solution architects, systems administrators, network engineers and IT system owners to gather requirements, share knowledge, document automation solution, processes and best practices including provide oversight and consultation during technical solution design, build, test and operational phases including peer review of technical solution designs to ensure consistency with Kontoor’s Global IT Standards and strategic alignments.

Project Execution and Delivery: Participate in project design sessions analyzing business and technical infrastructure & cloud requirements, processes, integrate solutions of new and existing infrastructure and continuous improvement of standards, processes, procedure across the function are of responsibility through Iac automation.

Peer Review, validate, develop technical designs, prototypes, process designs, testing, training, and definition of support procedures for systems deployment in Cloud/On-Prem infrastructure(s

Develop and maintain appropriate documentation for global IT Data Services platforms, and solutions – including architecture, design, integration flows, implementation, standard operating procedures, and testing lifecycle activities.

Prepare formal project documentation, including specifications, requirements summaries, high-level design, low-level logical system design documents, state diagrams, automation integration flow, and test scripts.

Internal Stakeholder and Vendor Management: Build, develop, and grow business relationships with users within Kontoor Global IT Infrastructure/Network/Application/Security and with key partners and vendors. This includes working with internal and external Infrastructure, application, security, and Networking teams to evolve Kontoor global IT automation transformational journey.

Providing mentorship, cross-training, and guide other infrastructure team members on Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) transformation, infrastructure and application stack, peer review of codes and infrastructure/database/application technical system and automation design related to Data Services and standards and drive wider adoption of Database-as-a-Service and IaC enterprise IT automation culture across Kontoor.

Provide regular communication to Kontoor IT management and leadership team on internal team initiatives, global IT Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) journey goals/objectives, Infrastructure/automation related projects, and other work assignments.
