The Senior Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Services is a hands-on expert responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining global client computing technologies and application packaging for our client. This includes managing client endpoints (Windows OS, MacOS, iOS, Android), and Windows virtual desktops across enterprise, retail, distribution, and manufacturing segments. The role involves overseeing application packaging, configuration management, and providing ongoing support for these platforms.

The engineer collaborates closely with End User Services, application teams, and information security to address complex technical challenges, guide project planning, and establish strategies. The position focuses on creating standards, automating processes, and improving our client computing platforms.

Responsibilities also include monitoring the client computing infrastructure, handling system updates, security patches, system refreshes, and leading 24x7 support activities. The role involves working with contractors, service providers, and internal teams to ensure the smooth operation and advancement of the client computing environment. Regular interaction with vendors and third-party service providers is also essential.

Responsibilities:

This role focuses on collaborating with Global IT Infrastructure services and service partners to research, engineer, and deploy client applications across Windows, Mac, and mobile operating systems, integrating with the Intune technology stack. Key responsibilities include application packaging, managing OS upgrades, patches, compliance, and system refreshes within our client computing environment.

The engineer oversees daily administration and troubleshooting of the client computing infrastructure, addressing system tuning and capacity management while adhering to enterprise standards. Collaboration with end-user services and vendors is essential for ongoing support.

Additionally, the role involves developing automation scripts (using PowerShell, Python, etc.) to address system health issues and automate updates for client and mobile applications, reducing the need for manual packaging. Testing of automation code ensures the quality and performance of various infrastructure components.

As the subject matter expert, this role supports multiple global IT projects, ensuring reliable end-user computing technologies. Responsibilities include overseeing the design, build, testing, and operations of client computing infrastructure, peer-reviewing technical solutions for compliance with IT standards, and researching trends to propose innovations for our client IT capabilities.

Participation in design sessions for technical infrastructure and cloud processes, as well as the development of documentation for architecture standards and project specifications, is also required. The role emphasizes stakeholder and vendor management, fostering relationships with users and teams within our client´s Global IT Infrastructure, Application, and Security.

Work experience:

- 10 years of experience in Enterprise IT industry experience encompassing a wide range of skill set, roles and industry verticals including a large-scale global IT operation, envisioning, design, implementation, migrations, transformations, deployment rollout including broad experience with driving IT platform architecture/design/administration, service management and IT governance/control processes

- 10 years of progressive experience working with 4 or more of the following functional technology areas.

1. Automate and scripting of End User Computing desktop and mobile application packages, deployment and delivery services for Windows OS, Mac OS, Mobile OS (iOS & Android) endpoints and virtual desktop (Azure AVD), Office 365 and integrations for deployment services via Intune and enterprise application store
2. End User Computing technologies, Microsoft 0ffice 365, Microsoft Collaboration, Hybrid-Azure Active Directory, Security administration, Apple Enterprise technologies, Servers, Networking, automation services, across the enterprise, retail, distribution, and manufacturing business segments
3. Design, engineering, and administration of modern enterprise client computing operating systems & platforms – Windows, MacOS, Linux, Thin-Client OS, Mobile OS (iOS/Android), Intune, Azure, Defender, Citrix & Azure Virtual Desktops/Applications
4. Enterprise Modern End User Computing platform technologies for virtual desktop, hosted desktop/applications, security hardening and patching, client application packaging/delivery/deployment for local and virtual deployment, App-Stores, Azure Windows Virtual Desktop, Azure Remote apps & FSLogix experience preferred
5. Enterprise MDM/MAM and endpoint system management – (Windows, MacOS, iOS, Android) Intune, SOTI, 10Zig, JAMF, Beyond Trust Insight (EPM) & Remote Support (Bomgar)
6. Enterprise client hardware build and deployment management – DELL, Apple, HP, Lenovo, 10zig, Thin-Client, Mobile devices, Zebra, printing

- 5 years of experience with infrastructure orchestration and automation (Infrastructure-as-Code, Configuration-as-Code) for provisioning and management of on-premises infrastructure, Azure hosted Infrastructure-as-a-Service and Platform-as-a-Service capabilities (Azure) including virtual networks, virtual machines, and data services
- 5 years of experience with agile IT framework, CI/CD platforms and tools such as Azure DevOps, Pipeline, Git, Puppet, Chef, or Ansible
- 5 years of experience with scripting and automating Infrastructure and cloud platforms using scripting languages, tools and management of script libraries such as Azure PowerShell, PowerShell, Azure ARM\AUM, Python, Bash, Ansible, Broadcom (CA) Automic
- 5 years of experience with advance level knowledge of networking, TCP/IP, routers, load balancers and XML gateway devices, including IPv4, IPv6, SFTP, SSH, PKI/SSL, DNS, DHCP, HTTPS, URL Filtering, NAC, etc.

Education requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred, or a 10+ years combination of equivalent education and relevant experience
• Certification in Cloud Computing Platforms (e.g., PowerShell, Microsoft Azure, AWS, GCP)
• Combination of Certifications in various Client Computing Technologies (e.g., End-User Computing Platforms, Enterprise client applications, Server-Client Virtualization, VDI, Application Packaging/Delivery Lifecycle, SAN storage, Data protection, Microsoft, Infrastructure Security, Various Operating Systems & database platforms, etc..)
• ITIL Certification and experience preferred
